Palo Verde uses turnstiles to ensure that the electronic dosimeter is present prior to exiting the area. During RWT training we instruct all radworkers on dosimetry removal (part of the undress poster), placement on a tray at the SOP, and retrieval / contamination monitoring. The turnstile is the last item they have to pass through before heading to the RCA egress area.

Subject: Powernet: Benchmark on EDs left at SOPs A quick benchmark: What are sites doing to make sure persons exiting high-traffic Contamination Areas do not leave their Electronic Dosimeters at the step-off pad or in their PCs? Are sites using engineering controls such as smart turnstiles or swing-arms so an ED is required to exit the area (outside the CA)? EDs are required to log out of the RCA. An ED left at the CA exit might not be discovered until the worker is ready to log out of the RCA. This means they are not monitored by self-reading, alarming dosimeters during transit to exit (or until discovery). Also, the EDs might be mixed up in plant laundry before it can be retrieved; their dose history for the that RCA entry would therefore be lost. Your response is appreciated.
