Browns Ferry is currently performing a spent fuel pool cleanout which includes the removal of 70 ultrasonic fuel cleaning filters. These filters have been stored in our spent fuel pool since 2005 and have dose rates up to 400 R/HR. We have experienced a cloud of debris and increasing dose rates (up to 400 mR/hr at the surface of the water) while attempting to move these filters. Does anyone have any information that can be shared as to the removal, packaging, disposal or storage of this type filter?
