*Syria to use Irans experience in turning gasoline engines into CNG type* *Damascus*, March 31, IRNA *Syrian Oil and Mineral Resources Minister Sofyan al-Alaw *here Monday night emphasized need for taking advantage of Irans experience in turning gasoline run vehicles engines into systems capable of using condensed natural gas (CNG). According to IRNA reporter in Damascus, al-Alaw expressed the demand during his reception of *the Iranian Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Nouzari* at Damascus International Airport. Expressing delight over hosting the Iranian minister in Syria, he said, This visit would further strengthen the friendship of the two countries and lead to broader cooperation between Iran and Syria, including launching joint projects in oil and gas fields. Al-Alaw meanwhile referred to the signing of a letter of agreement with Iran about two years ago for importing gas from Iran, emphasizing the need for implementing it as soon as possible so that the gas could be used by the Syrian industries and also for pursing joint projects. He added, Contracts have been signed with a number of Iranian companies for distribution of fuel in Syria, and that the implementation of that matter, too, is under survey. The Syrian Oil Minister considered the horizon of the two countries relations in oil and gas field to be quite a bright one, asking for ever-onward expansion of such ties. The Iranian Petroleum Minister arrived in Damascus on Monday night for a four-day visit.
