We typically see name-brand memory such as Kingston or Viking as very
much worth the extra 5-10% or so in cost. (Some times they are even
cheaper than generic sticks - Right now 512MB of Kingston PC3200 is just
US$54 from CDW here in the States!)

I've had very good luck with Crucial (Micron) memory in particular. Also Samsung branded dimms have been pretty good.

The highly touted Corsair 'value-ram' stuff doesn't seem much better than generic. I've had several of those flake out, but they did deal with the RMA promptly.

The local retailer I get much of my memory from is currently carrying ATP in addition to Kingston and Samsung... This particular retailer sell a LOT of systems to silicon valley corporations, and they've had a real good track record of only carrying 'good' products, if they get too many RMAs from something, they drop it real fast. The ATP stuff is more expensive than the Kingston ($67 for a ATP 512MB PC3200 vs $47 for Kingston and $48 for Samsung)
