I agree, on all counts. Except... There is never the room or clearance on a PC motherboard to do anything much with the CPU to heatsink interface. I favour (gently) twisting (back and forth rotation) rather than trying to slide the heatsink sideways, or whatever, to avoid levering the surfaces apart and /introducing/ air... Another "however": That should all be unnecessary for the 'retail' heatsinks that have a very thin layer of grease already pre-applied. That stuff is on so thin that none will ooze out in any case. Just place the heatsink on the CPU and clamp it. Nothing more required. And who's "Chubby Checker"?
