CUPS is a mess on my system which was live upgraded from build 89 to 99. I have enabled cups printing, switching from lp, and the cups services are running.
online 17:23:39 svc:/application/cups/in-lpd:default online 17:28:31 svc:/application/cups/scheduler:default I can access and create printers for my two printers. They are connected via usb (to a port that doesn't exist?): Description: Brother HL-5250DN Duplex Location: Here Printer Driver: Brother HL-5250DN Foomatic/Postscript (recommended) Printer State: processing, accepting jobs, published. Device URI: usb://Brother/HL-5250DN%20series Description: Canon i860 Color Ink Location: Here2 Printer Driver: Canon imageRunner 330s Foomatic/hpijs (recommended) Printer State: idle, accepting jobs, published. Device URI: usb://Canon/i860 Printing test pages to them does not work, they simply go offline. Today I get this error: "Unable to open file "/var/spool/cups/d00006-001" - Permission denied" Now why would the permissions be wrong? Yesterday I got a similar error, but for /etc/cups/cupsd.conf -rw-r----- 1 root sys 2.4K Oct 22 12:43:50 2008 /etc/cups/cupsd.conf Both printers are now listed as offline. Is this a known error? Is there a work-around? Is this fixed in SNV_100? I'd very much like to know, because I will have to switch back to lp soon and I'd prefer not to be going back and forth between cups and lp. thanks, aric -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
