Hi,

Thanks for your patience - I can now print OK.

This failed. Nothing happened - no lights or any noise from the printer.
I tried each command after a reboot. "pfiles (pid)" showed:
1070: cat golfer.hl1250

I don't know what to do about this - printing from MSXP on this laptop (using
parallel) is OK.
This prompted me to unplug the parallel cable and swap to a USB connection.
Using the GUI printmgr tool I was able to correctly configure my printer - it
Just Works.
I swapped the port to "/dev/printers/1".

I can print from OpenOffice.org, Firefox and...

I can print PDF's from within Evince without any problems (I don't need to
specify ranges).

I have re-installed 5.11 snv_55b from the DVD I got in the mail.

Oh, I see.

Well, one step forward - thanks Norm and Ghee.
Best regards,
Stuart.
