David, If you still have problems consider the following method for cleaning off the bottoms of the print heads which also can drag ink over not-intended portions of the paper. This also works well for serious ink clogs.
cheers, Nina To clean off the bottom of the print head Turn on printer and move the paper/envelope lever on the side of the printer to the + position 1 - press paper button for 4 seconds to get the heads over to the cart changing position 2 - pull power cord - the print head should be to the left. 3 - tear paper towel in 1/2 (or use one of those flat square sponge wipes that come in packages of 4 or 5. Cut sponge in strips - each the width of the black channel - with a scissors.) or 4 - fold paper towel and lay in the black plastic channel below where the print head travels back and forth (or place there one of the strips of sponge wipe). 5 - work the print head up over the paper towel/sponge strip (we are doing this on a dry paper towel so we can get the print head over it by an inch or two. 6 - when the print head is up on the paper towel, squirt some Windex or isopropyl alcohol on the paper towel/sponge strip, and then move the printhead manually back and forth gently to scrub off the bottom. 7 - move the print head off the towel/sponge strip, pull the towel/sponge strip up and throw out and repeat the process several times with clean towel or sponge strip. Toss the last one and get every thing cleaned up. 8 - push the print head over to the right parked position. 9 - plug in the printer, which will then do a cleaning cycle. 10 - Print a nozzle check and do a couple cleaning cycles as required to get any paper towel fibers off the bottom of the print head . They clean right up - and are worth it because you have removed any large sludge buildups from the bottom of the print head. (advantage of the sponge wipes is they don't leave fibers on the heads) =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
