Yes, I know it's not the best thing to resave .jpg files. I hate to do it, and rarely do but those times I do, sometimes this happens (corruption). Also, I am not saving with two ".." either, it must have been a typo. Sorry.wrote "..jpg" above, it was a typo? I don't even know if Photoshop will even accept files saved with an added dot, but it's a thought. You do know that it's a bad idea to save JPEGs as JPEGs, by the way?
Actually, many tests, including ones done by me in a prepress environment have proven that successive resaves of .jpg files at maximum quality take more than one or two, and sometimes many more generations before noticeable artifacts and image degradation begin. That's not to say I condone the act, but I am not as fearful as many.
Also, as to motive, in the course of photographing large events with the aim of direct print sales to participants, sometimes the small size of a resaved .jpg after color tweaking, rotating, and sharpening, is worth the slight (if any) loss in quality.
So I pose the question again, has anyone else seen any corruption of resaved .jpg files, not that you'd ever do it on purpose, from a D1X in Photoshop 7.0?
Thank you,
Robert
