Sounds to me like there is a 'clash of interests' when PS7 overwrites the D1X Jpeg file header information with its own code. OK, open up your Nikon D1X Jpeg in Photoshop, select all and copy to the clipboard, close window, create new file, paste into new file, flatten file, and save as PS7 Jpeg to disk. This can be recorded as an Action, and works very nicely to strip out redundant file header info. Hope this helps.
