normally, I guess, but of course Quark has no <effective> controls to

well, actually, black type is not normally separated to any other than
the black plate for printing on a press because of registration issues.

That's one reason why designers tend to want/need a decent rip, since
that deals with the different postscript info properly.

well, it's an answer but if it were a designer asking I'd say he needs
to know that any type will be rasterised and printed 4 or 6 col. Same
with any type from Photoshop AFAIK. For  a photographer I'm sure it'll
be fine.
