Some makers have worked around the chips.

However, your sensible  money saving route is Lyson inska nd a
coontinuous ink supply. I'm told Epson inks are 1000 pounds a litre,
the buld Fotonics are betweeen 125ml for 15 and 1 litre for about 65.

Using generic or refilled cartridges will remove any semblance of print
output continuity you have at present. How much paper do you want to
waste?

IF you are using a profile you'll be giving it very little chance with
refilled carts. Bit like using different mixed brands of film at the
same exposure ;-}, it might work, but it might not.
