First, there is no serial port on a G4.
I need more information in order to be of any help.
HOW are you attempting to access the internet?? Modem, cable, dsl??
Is the AppleTalk Control Panel set to Remote Only?

I thought this was going to be easy, well that's what they all said about Macs !

Thought it might be useful if one of the Macs was able to access the Internet, so what else to do on a Saturday night but get it done. Not so easy because whenever I try to connect, up comes a message which tells me that an error occurred while initializing the serial port. It may already be in use. I have read the books, scratched my head, swapped the connection cable, looked all over the control panels for something to give me a clue about the S ports but nothing. Has anyone at this late hour got some advise to offer me. G4 400 OS 9.2

Many thanks in anticipation.
