First, there is no serial port on a G4. I need more information in order to be of any help. HOW are you attempting to access the internet?? Modem, cable, dsl?? Is the AppleTalk Control Panel set to Remote Only? Bill On Saturday, April 12, 2003, at 06:32 PM, Richard Kenward wrote:

Thought it might be useful if one of the Macs was able to access the Internet, so what else to do on a Saturday night but get it done. Not so easy because whenever I try to connect, up comes a message which tells me that an error occurred while initializing the serial port. It may already be in use. I have read the books, scratched my head, swapped the connection cable, looked all over the control panels for something to give me a clue about the S ports but nothing. Has anyone at this late hour got some advise to offer me. G4 400 OS 9.2
