Interesting. I tried what you mention above and the screen (or part of screen) is saved on my system as a PDF file. Is that what it's supposed to do? If so, then the Grab program is a probably a better choice. The PDF file didn't look that great while Grab saves the screen shots as much higher quality TIFF files.
