While I'll admit that the Canon 10D has quite a good battery life, it tends to show low power levels very quickly indeed before carrying on for probably another 200 images or more and then dies very suddenly without an extra word of warning. In other words, its easy to get caught out.
I am sure that everybody on this list is incredibly well prepared and would never dream of shooting something without a fully charged back up on hand, so I was wondering if there was any consensus on which battery to get and from which supplier? I know its a BP-511, however a quick search on the internet revealed many generic versions at much cheaper prices than Canon's own one that are probably just as good I imagine. Any thoughts?
