I don't know the answer to this one. However in my personal experience, I've had some Epson's, that must be turned off, others that can be left on. The 890 was the worst and had to be turned off to park the heads. My current 1160, using Epson Inks, stays on all the time and has never blocked and only really needed one run of cleaning sessions in about 6 months.
I think different ink sets just behave differently. Experiment a little and see what works for you.
