I wonder if the difficulty is greater if you are operating off a tripod
in a public place, though I have never had any problem in that
direction. Perhaps the sight of a large format monorail etc., looks too

'official' for most people to question<BG>

Dear Richard,

Yes you are bang on with that one. I have been doing some personal work
on Birmingham at night and yes you guessed it tripod, on public land,
somehow everyone has now become a policeman. I was even accused of being
a terrorist even though I had my NUJ card on me. I said yes likely
story, I'm casing your joint, at night, where I cant see anything, I
wait here for an hour, just to stick out like a sore thumb, so you can
speak to me, I spend time on composition etc. Yes of course I'm casing
your joint, and all the images will be sent to all known terrorist for
good measure, to add to the ones they got off the net and tourist
broschures and the ones, they got when they walked around with a point
and shoot looking like a tourist in the middle of the day, security
guard shut up. To which I replyed if you have a problem then call the
police, police were called, police look in bemusment at security gurad,
spoke to me, end of matter.

I too rarely have a problem, only in Birmingham, the paranoid city.

Man this country is going mad.

cheers

Ian Reynolds
