Bjorn,
Sounds nasty.
Just check if you can open other files.
Try trashing the Prefs.
Run a diagnostic check on your hard disc.
If all that fails to resuscitate the file, sounds like start from scratch.
Are you opening from the File menu or double-clicking the file itself, the File/Open often succeeds where double-clicking has failed.

What is this? Trying to open the file in PS 6.0 showed the same error...
Anyone knows how to fix this?
