As has been said by others, you will rarely get a professional result from auto-levels as it just cannot really know what is going on in your picture.
Don’t forget you can check the histogram on the D60 by pressing the info button so you can see whether it is the camera or the computer straight away. Also, does this happen in daylight, or just with flash.
Something to bear in mind, it is all to easy to knock the thumb dial on the back of the D60 while you are setting the exposure which can set up an unwanted exposure compensation. I have accidentally done this several times myself.

over to digital and use a Cannon D60 and 10D, after shooting several jobs in
the studio and opening them in photoshop seven and after using autolevel they
seemed very contrasty and underexposed? Never come across this before? |
