Dear List,

I've been trying for several months to get my 1160 to work properly - it's been serviced twice in the last couple of months and apart from 1 week when I had to make the AOP04 reference prints and when Neil Barstow made a couple of his test prints (which he thought were fine), I can't say it has worked consistently since March.

I'm using Lyson inks with a CIS system and it basically has blocked nozzles. Windowlene pads have been used many times, along with windowlene, alcohol cleaning fluid, hot water and cold water on purpose made cleaning pads - nothing seems to give a perfectly clean head. One nozzle clears, another one blocks! I asked John Reid for a set of cleaning cartridges but he seemed to think more intensive cleaning was needed when I spoke to him in June at which point I had it serviced. Today I even tried a 5% solution of ammonia, the active ingredient in windowlene and so far I seem to have made it worse!

As a last ditch effort before I throw it from my window into the Uxbridge Road, can the head be removed easily (by me ) and cleaned without causing any damage? I'm not willing to spend any more money on it - it's a shame I've got a few profiles that will need replacing if I have to get a new printer. Or will the impact from a 207 bus do the trick!?

Regards,

Paul Debois
