Paul, I've had similar problems. I solved it in the end by a combination of leaving the heads soaking in Windowlene overnight followed by plenty of purge prints. I used Neil's "Printer Test" image to print out A4 after A4 untill I got a blockage free print. I found that the best printer settings were "Same as source", "No Colour Adjustment" and the paper type set to "Photo Paper". I'm using CIS too. It took about a week to sort it out, if that's any consolation.
