The reason is that Adobe plans to market its full range of related products under this umbrella, much like Macromedia and their nomenclature MX, because they see an advantage in the more powerful links between the individual products in the lineup. Version Cue will allow collaborative projects between disparate groups using different individual applications conforming to the CS suite.


Also, you may well find that buying the suite is more economical than the individual components. The version number will still have some meaning in relation to upgrades, but the marketing will play on the CS theme.
