Hi I would say that there is far more to RAW files than that. They contain actual sensor data that the conversion program -can- use to extract more useful data. An example would be using the ACR up-sampling on a raw file as opposed to up-sampling a tiff from the camera. If files from a camera are viewed as 'digital negatives' then using RAW files is akin to being able to adjust the development time and temperature a bit - or, if you consider different converter s/w, the developer. bye for now Keith Cooper Northlight Images http://northlight-images.co.uk Photography - Digital Imaging - Apple Mac Consultancy Tel +44 (0)116 291 9092 Mobile +44 (0)780 162 9397 =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
