Rod does not say what kind of cards (Lexar SanDisk??) he is using and I feel this may well have a bearing on the issue.

Two were Fuji and one was Dane-Elec (Toshiba), but I did also try a Lexar, all exhibited the the same error code at some stage. I spoke to a Canon technician today, and once I had related three different faults and the relevant circumstances he agreed the symptoms were unlikely to be directly related to the card, but more likely the camera. And anyway as I mentioned, the supplier is happy to replace it, so I shall be happy sometime after the 17th of this month when he has taken delivery of the next shipment.
When it functions correctly it takes great shots, but not quite as good as the 1Ds that I was using at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
