Laurence

I have a 2450 also (bought from Patrick Baldwin through the For Sale section of Prodig .org - and very happy I am with it)

Have you tried taking it apart. I haven't actually done that on this machine but I did it on a previous Linocolor scanner with the same problem. It is a physical, mechanical lock. None of the scanners are mechanically technically challenging. If it is not a mechanical problem - then maybe you do have a bigger problem. On a previous Linocolor scanner (not the one I mention above) I bought a new power supply, but when it did not solve the problem (To their credit they had previously agreed to take it back at full refund less the postage) the cost of the next possibility (a new logic board) was just not worth it. I gave the non working scanner to a Prodig list member for the bits (mainly the hood).

I put on the transportation lock. Once in it's new location I tried to
unlock it, but to no avail. It is well and truely stuck in the locked
position. Being over a year old and out of warrenty, Epson don't want to
know. Most people have suggested throwing it away but I've been happy with
it to date, so that seems like such a waste/expense. Am I missing something?
Or is there anyone who could repair this (in Scotland?) that wouln't cost
more than a new scanner?
