I may be completely wrong, but seem to recall that there is a difference between the rights of a business and that of a consumerser. I know there certainly is with regard to your rights when purchasing using a private credit card as against a business credit card (as I had cause to discover when I recently ordered the wrong item from Dabs - though to be fair to them they relented and took the item back).

To keep it on a digital note, I'm sure, as I wrote last night, that it should be fairly simple to unlock the scanner if you take it apart. There really is hardly anything inside them :-)
