I have tested the old D30 and D60, the 1Ds and the 10D , all from Canon, and what I have found out and strongly suggest is to go straight on with teh Sunlight setting in the White balance selector or work in Custom WHite Balance for easch situation , and basically forgetting about too much playing with other controls.

THis provides a high level of consistency colorwise, and from this point, you can start playing inside ACR to make aesthetical changes or color corrections . Version 2 of ACR, that which comes in Photoshop CS works amazingly fast, compared to version 1, the original plugin no longer available, and way faster than the Canon software,.

Best.

Been processing out some RAW Canon 1ds files today with ACR, and have
noticed that images shot with the color balance set to "Cloudy" look
terrible within the default settings for such in ACR. Processing out the
same images within Canon's File Viewer Utility, they come out as expected.
