I find a laptop invaluable on site and have a G4 powerbook. I download
all my files through a PC card onto the laptop. I went for a Mac over PC
as at the last look, the 1Ds is only capable of tethered shooting
through a firewire connection. I added a firewire on my desktop PC (with
much struggling and swearing) which means I can do tethered shooting in
the studio. If I need to do any sort of tethered shooting I use the
laptop nowadays.

I have a digital wallet which I download files onto but I use it really
as a backup now. There is a great peace of mind knowing the images are
on screen on my laptop and ready to work on as soon as I get back to the
studio.

Battery power is my big problem though.

>Don't know if you NEED it or not but it will certainly be very useful.

>Use it to download images and critically evaluate them onsite... or
>even better, use it for tethered shooting.
