>> Quite! Plus I couldn't open a jpg this week in PS7 on PC W2K.

I looked at that amazing site at
http://www.tawbaware.com/maxlyons/gigapixel.htm and downloaded the jpg file.

Wouldn't open in PS7! But it would open in IrfanView 3.80 (a free program, I
think).

I wonder if it opens in ACS?

Interesting stuff David - CS chokes on the JPEG, but not becuase of the
pixel width (speculation, see below).

Irfanview does not bat a [virutal] eyelid - it can open and save out a file
greater than 30,000 pixels too!

So I saved as a TIFF from Irfanview and then managed to open the file in
Photoshop!!

We expect so much from Adobe - but are we really expecting so much?

One can't compare freeware apps to Photoshop, and APS is still my imaging
choice - but what they do [freeware apps], they often do very well, so
should I cut Adobe slack and not compare freeware to Photoshop? Would the
lack of audio annotation features and better file open/save support be
appreciated? I guess not.

Yes, Irfanview is freeware - but I am not sure if commercial useage affects
the EULA.

Stephen Marsh.
