I'm sure your Dell laptop is <crisper>, that's an LCD thing it seems.
But I doubt it's <better> unless your CRT is an old faded soft focus
one. Compare the colour gamuts, laptops tend to have a pretty small
gamut.
This doesnot mean that they can't be used for viewing images, just that
you have to be very careful when making judgements about saturated
colours.
