A Canon CanoScan 4000US is pretty good, reasonably priced and 4000dpi. And finally, just before Christmas a Mac OSX driver :->
Only drawback is that it is SCSI or USB 1.
Other than that you probably can't go far wrong with the Nikon Coolscan range.
