Snip: I try to open any of them CS freezes and has to be shut down. Try to eliminate other possibilities: Copy the files to the desktop, and open from there. Are they "read only"? (shouldn't affect ability to open.) Are TIFF files associated with another program? Write another CD with similar files to determine if a CD writing fault Try to open files from another CD Reinstall PSCS. HTH.
