Take a look at Powerquest's Drive Image 7.

This will take an image of your whole drive and restore either all of it, or
specific files, as required.

Works brilliantly, (I am sure on Mac or PC).

Twice, recently, I have had corrupt Windows files which would normally have
meant a complete operating sysytem reinstall, if not a reformat.
Using Drive Image, everything was back to normal, including all my personal
settings/desktop etc etc, within 15 minutes.

Only downside: with XP's piracy protection, it means that it is not
currently possible to restore to a machine with a different motherboard. i.e
if your machine is destroyed by fire/stolen you will be stuck.
