Hello,
What's the easiest way of creating a CD-ROM of jpgs - so that different
computers (mac and PC) can read it and non-computer people can easily view
as a slide show or print off images etc. I've got iView Media Pro, Photoshop
CS but still can't work out a way of doing this. Any help on this?
Hi All:
I know our Support department has replied directly to Becky, but thought I would share the answer in this forum, as it seems to be of interest:
The easiest way of doing it is depends on personal preference and the specific requirements.
Richard Earney has already mentioned the two methods that iView Support would themselves recommend.
One can make an HTML gallery, then copy the whole thing to a CD. Everyone has a web browser and web browsers can print. Currently you would have to click through each image but we will provide a template in the future that flicks through the images in a more sideshow style.
Using iView Catalog Reader is another option. Catalog Reader is software that anyone can download for free from the iView Website. (www.iview-multimedia.com). With it, you can distribute your images for viewing -- even to people who don't have iView software.
The best way to use Catalog Reader is to copy the reader itself and all the images to a folder and then use MediaPro to save your catalog to that same folder. The fact that everything is in a very simple folder structure means that catalog reader will easily find the images when used on another computer. You could put images in subfolders of this main folder to tidy things up - the key point is that the paths to the images will be 'relatively' the same on your computer and on the CD.
Then just burn the contents of this folder to a CD. Mac users will be able to run Catalog Reader from the CD and open the catalog. Windows users will have to run the install for Catalog Reader first. We would always recommend testing a CD like this yourself before sending it to a third party.
The one point you mention that Catalog Reader cannot do is print. But it is easy to drag images to another application (like Quicktime's Preview) and print from there.
We will produce a tutorial on how to best use Catalog Reader but until we do I hope the above helps."
Kind regards,
Joy
