I also bought a Sony G420 after returning three Lacie 19" blues which were horendous. The Sony seemed so much more accurate and even neutral grey. However, about a year later and the even grey has become a real shift from magenta in one corner, through to green, a bit of yellow and then magenta again! Looking at a black & white image now looks as if it has a slight colour cast to it!
Dear Glyn
You are a lucky man because with the Sony unlike a Mitsubishi, you have what's called a "Landing" control which should correct this problem for you.
I am sure you have checked, however this may be a useful reminder for some lurkers.........do check that colour balance/evenness is not being effected by something as innocent as a telephone answering machine that's slid too close is not causing the problem<G>
I won't be buying any cheap CRTs again as none seem very good. I'd be looking at the Eizo range or stick with Cinema Displays perhaps. I can't afford Barcos!
Consider picking up an Artisan before there are none left in the country to buy. Sony tell me that they are stopping all CRT production very shortly and will not be able to supply any more Artisans in the future in the UK.
Cheers
