I too couldn't think why they'd changed the behaviour of this; in Photoshop 7, you just had to double-click a thumbnail and the browser would disappear while your file opened. Now, you have to option-double-click the thumbnail and I'm always forgetting and having to click on the browser in the background to bring it to the front to close it. Very annoying.
