I have been following this thread with interest - I have been using the aforementioned Fasthosts for nearly a year - for the princely sum, of GBP15 / month, I get 2 Gb of web space with numerous sub-domains. No need for a re-seller account.
FTP is straightforward to use. Andy Woods; ref you upload speeds, get yourself a decent ISP and avoid B...T. I am using Eclipse (www.eclipse.net.uk) who charge me GBP 30 / month for 20:1 contention business service. Their new Flex packages are cheaper still. They have been best UK broadband provider for two years - my uploads run consistently at 280KBs. Minimum contract is only 1 month too...
Anyone using a Mac should try Transmit for their FTP - been using it for a week and it is marvelous.
