I'm using the 20D tethered to a Mac computer (OS X.3.5) & am trying to get to grips with the new DPP/Capture combo software.
Is it me, or is there a whole lot of usability that's been removed from Canon's answer to shooting tethered? This is a method of shooting I've been enjoying with a D60 & Canon's Remote Capture Software - I was looking forward to an improvement all round with the new software....but the usage seems......weird - maybe I've missed something.
When viewing a folder of images in the 'folder' view the thumbnails remain quite pixelated. Images shot while in Capture certainly download speedily enough (USB 2.0).....but whichever viewing window is being used, it doesn't 'update' as new images are being shot ie. the new images don't take viewing precedence in the computer's monitor. This is a very important 'missing feature' for a client who's watching progress during a shoot & needs to keep seeing the new images popping up for them...they shouldn't have to keep scrolling through the folder.
It also seems very cumbersome to be 'switching' between the two halves of the S/W - from EOS Capture & then to DPP to view the images.....& then back to Capture.....
What's with this software? Have I missed some preferences somewhere? Have others discovered a good workflow with tethered shooting & the 20D? Does Phase One offer usability with the 20D? Why so many questions......?
I also should add that I'm enjoying the use of the camera, the images look very clean, the speed of operations is superb & altho' I had no problems in the few days I've owned it - I updated the firmware to V1.04 & then to V1.05 (there have been some reported problems with lock-ups).
