The method I advocate is to first add a curves adjustment layer and modify the Red channel so that the red highlight input value is lowered and a point is added on the lower portion of the curve to introduce a cyan shadow cast.
Go to the blue channel and reduce the highlight point output value and increase the shadow point output value.
Go to the green channel and add a midpoint and adjust to introduce a greener colour balance.
Set the curves adjustment layer to Color mode.
I then add a color overlay adjustment layer and set the color to a yellow or peachy colour and set the layer blend mode to around 25% opacity and color blend mode. the next bit is quite critical. Double-click the color fill layer empty space area to open the Layer Style options. Drag on the black triangle slider for the Underlying layer blend options. Option/Alt drag to separate the two halves and drag the right split triangle over to the right.
These are the basic steps and can be modified to suit your own tastes. I am going to include this in my presentation at the Photo East show in New York next week. If anyone is going to the NY show, I'll be at the Adobe booth for an hour or so each day and the seminars at the booth are free (check the Adobe seminar schedule)
