Sorry if I gave an impression of negativity - the impression I was aiming
for was more of a *shoulder shrug* or a *so what*.

A DNG is a variety of TIFF. And therefore a variety of an image format that
was designed to come in different varieties. As such, it doesn't seem like
it's worth heralding as the magic bullet that will solve all problems with
RAW data.

However, if Adobe can save me the trouble of going through stuff like this:

And having to resort to the shell to simply preserve image metadata then I'm
happy about that.

But I'm going to wait a while before converting *all* my images :-)
