If you check again, you will find that somehow (although I have not tested them all) 6 MP RAW files are shown in PSCS as having 240 ppi of resolution, so this is not a change in DNG.

If C1 stop making their RAW converter I will still have a few copies. Is there something which will make this obsolete in the short term?

Your comment could be read as if you beleive there could be no possible improvement for C1 in the coming future.

My guess is that there will be numerous changes and versions of DNG 'standards' before I come within years of needing it.

And why the reluctance Bob? Just a few weeks ago I brought out a link with a discussion about an universal RAW file as a means of long term archiving with certain level of confidence, and this may be one alternative worth trying, maybe a better one , but somehow the concept has been in the air for quite some time.

Remember that the JPEG 2000 lossless compression format seemed to be a fine option for space-saving lossless archiving and even Adobe seem to have totally dropped the idea in less than a year, but again, in this case, some could embrace a jpeg lossless compression scheme in their daily workflow, while some would not be interested , but somehow, when it comes to RAW, the option of being able to put aside proprietary components as to keep each an every file readable in time, independent of changes in software, makes this - at the very least - worth testing. My only doubt comes from the potential scenario of more standarization on file content, producing all too equal results for different cameras( and authors), if proprietary components were key to some particular type of image/color/quality.

Also, more work for David Riecks and all database software makers, who will definitely have to keep working on the handling of metadata, IPTC etc, as to be able to transfer all info fluently from one RAW format to another and back to TIFF.
