There's no doubt that batching in Photoshop in NOT intuitive and hasn't been
looked at in any great detail for a number of versions. Adobe's answer is to
provide scripting and leave the user to it - a bit like giving a driver a
licence to fly a spaceship and then saying "Get on with it, you whimp!" <g>

Last time we discussed C1 and ACR, I said it's pointless comparing the two:
one is a stand alone app costing almost as much as Photoshop and the other
is a plug-in (bundled free with Photoshop CS!). It's a bit like comparing
Photoshop to Photoshop Elements.

You can batch raw files fairly easily in Photoshop. The trick is in knowing
that ACR merely processes raw files and it's actually Photoshop that does
the batching. Hence, Dr Brown's Image Processor and/or custom actions needed
to automate batching.

So, you can do all those things you can in C1, such as watermarks, color
spaces, subfolders, file types to save to, folders and subfolders to save
into and more - you just need to know Java, AppleScript, VB or how to create
actions. If you know any of the above, you can unlock Photoshop's power and
need see the ACR interface only occasionally.
