Hello All, I have a LaCie 500GB D2 Big Disk "Extreme" (8MB Buffer) disc that has failed to mount the desk-top...Data is back-up so I'm not on a white knuckle ride yet...
But I am wondering if anyone can point out what may have caused this Hard Drive fail. I would like to learn where I went wrong, if at all possible. I have run Disc Utility on the failed LaCie 500 Drive and it reports, "The Volume LaCie 500 needs to be repaired. Volume check failed. Error. The underlying task reported failure upon exit" I have no idea what this means. My set up is G4 867 DP (running Mac OS10.3.6 with 3 internal ATA (60,80&120GB) Hard Drives . External (All LaCie) drives are : 2 x 500GB, 1 x 120GB, 1 x 80GB "daisy chained" out of one Mac Firewire (400) port. I have been using LaCie's Silverkeeper to make the back-ups, and the failed Hard Drive was reformatted upon purchase using Apples Disk Utility. I have noted recently that a Flextight P3 connected to the Mac via an Adaptec 2906 SCSI Card has been behaving badly recently, causing the computer to crash (Grey screen ordering a restart) when finishing a scan on a couple of occasions. Could this somehow be the cause of the Hard Drive failure ? My apologies for my ignorance if what I've set up is a known recipe for disaster ! Thank you very much for any pointers and recommendations. >From David -- David Townend : photographer t: +44 (0)1279 777597 | m: +44 (0)7770 622144 | View David's on-line folio at : http://www.davidtownend.com/ =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
