Its that time of the year when I think about upgrading the processing/motherboard on my PC.

The question is, is it worth bothering? Or is it better waiting until I can afford a G5 Mac?

I currently have an Athlon 2400 based machine, homebuilt. The latest generation of Athlon 64 chips seem to have quite a lot more poke than this. However, I switched to a Mac for my laptop and much prefer the stability of Mac OSX to windoze. As I am a long term Unix bod I prefer to have a unix flavour burbling away underneath as well.

Mainly I want to get more performance out of Photoshop, and it seems that the Mac claims to have the edge. Anyone got firmer information on this?

So to summarise:

1) Is Mac a better option for performance in Photoshop?
2) On the Athlon side, what do people recommend?
3) Any idea if a 64 bit version of Photoshop will make any difference in the near future?
