I had already specified the amount of RAM, and it is 70%, total of 981 MB.
Background processing is unchecked. I really do feel that this upgrade to CS (a good long time ago) was a step backward in workflow speed. I just hoped that somewhere I was missing something, because I can't believe that everyone sits here drumming fingers on desks waiting for metadata to load (not thumbnails, as they load relatively quickly). Photoshop 7 loads all in file browser at lightning speed. The files are large, from a 4040 back, but even so... they do not take this long in PS 7. I was trying to see if prefs were different in PS7 which would explain the speed it loads metadata and thumbnails, but there are no preferences for file browser in PS7. Many thanks for suggestions, Regards, Ellie On 29 Nov 2004 C Glass wrote about: Re: [PRODIG] PSCS file browser slow (snipped for brevity) > Another one of the tools is to tell PS how much Ram to use and then it > gets more responsive, it does not memory manage well.
