Have you tried using the File>Build Cache for Sub-folders command from the file browser window. PSCS will lock you out while it does this, but it should speed up the process from thereon in. If you then burn to a CD or DVD, or copy to another hard drive, use the File>Export Cache command to save you some time when browsing from there. I don't know how fast your system runs normally, so I can't give you any pointers as to what to expect, but it does make a difference to me...
