Depends what you're shooting I guess? If you've ever had to digitise a couple of thousand Kodachromes you'd appreciate the Illumitrans :-) When you've got about a millimetre of focus and dense stock you need to be able to throw a lot of light quickly. We experimented with an exceptionally bright light box once.
