> Have you compared Capture One to these raw conversion programmes?

I've not done it in any detailed way. The review was really written to show
what DxO raw was like against ACR, which I still use a lot. Since ACR comes
with Photoshop, I felt the comparison would be more meaningful to more
readers. I'm looking to do a more direct comparison of converters with a few
specific 'problem' images in the new year, but paid work keeps intruding on
my spare time :-) I'm also aware of the manic zeal that some people attach
to their favourite converters, so I'd want to do any comparisons -really-
carefully ;-)

In 'real' work I've found that my choice between ACR and DxO depends on the
type of image, the job (number of images) and final result (top notch print
or small brochure pic). For example, one thing you do with ACR is to use
Thomas Fors' excellent calibration script
<http://fors.net/scripts/ACR-Calibrator/>

One particular use of the DxO software that I've made, is the lens
corrections, where I've corrected pics shot at 16mm before applying
perspective transformations in PS... Of course I'd like to have used
movements to do it properly, but I couldn't find a 16mm tilt/shift lens for
my 1Ds ;-)

There is a time limited demo of DxO available, so I'd certainly suggest
having a go with it - if your lens/camera combination is supported.

bye for now
