I am calibrating and profiling a Lacie III blue 19" monitor using the GM Eye One device and Profilemaker Pro 4.15.
On checking the Black point, I cannot get it to see a difference in the curves box until level 23. It jumps from nothing at 22 to very visible at 23. When I go back in to do a recalibration, I see that the luminance system status is at 72.6, although when doing the calibration I got it to 90. This has now happened twice. I then changed monitors, to another monitor (same make and model, but less used) and find the phenomenon is the same. That computer had a new graphics card about 6 months ago or so. This monitor has not been calibrated or profiled since April (I know, I know, but it is not mine and has not been used for graphics or colour critical work in that time). The first monitor had the brightness level around 60% when it showed correct, the second around 39%. Both ended up with a luminance value of 90 ish, yet when I go back to re-calibrate, it shows the system luminance value of 72.6 or 72.7. What could be causing the problem? It's not the Eye One device, as I am able to calibrate and profile my monitor (22" Lacie III Blue) with no problems and see the difference in the curves box at level 2!!). Any thoughts? many thanks in advance, Ellie -- Ellie Kennard, Innovative Imaging Studio : http://www.iiStudio.com Contributor to "Photoshop Restoration and Retouching, 2nd edition" by Katrin Eismann =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
