One of my students has a problem with her computer at home (50 miles from me) and I am trying to help her, but cannot see what it is she has done or how to fix it. She has tried uninstalling and reinstalling and deleting the prefs on loading. She is using CS and windows XP. I can get colour images to go mono by fiddling with the profile settings etc but the swatches palettes always stays coloured. On her computer they are in mono although the pictures print in colour. She has brought 2 examples of the files into college and they appear properly on our computers. Files are multilayer TIFFs.

I quote from her message
"I was doing a lot of black and white pictures and for some reason now when I try to open up a file that was in colour, it opens on the screen as black and white?, it says (RGB/8) with the file name on the opened picture. The colours on the colour picker are also showing as black and white shades. When I print the picture out it does print in colour and shows in the print preview as colour as well. So it's just showing on the screen as black and white?

I was mucking about with the colour settings, workspace settings and profiles under modes, but I have reinstalled Photoshop again so it's back to it's original settings, but the pictures still show black and white?"

If anyone has time before the holiday shutdown please can you look at this little problem?

Thank you
